Contained below is all the information you will need to know about the Shard currency. We go off a trust system in terns of counting your Shards, however Staff will usually double check before adding your total to the Bank after you've drawn an image.

You Must have opened a Bank Account before you can start earning Shards! If you draw an image before opening an account we won't count it!
Crystal Shards
Crystal Shards, also known as "Shards" for short, are small fragments of the largest Crystal to ever exist, located in the heart of Haven, Galacia's Central region. Crystal shards are a way to reward users for participating in prompts and drawing art of the species by giving them a currency they can later use to purchase traits and other goodies for their Aquines.
They can be used to purchase items and traits from the Marketplace, and in the future, there will be many more opportunities to gain them.
Each time you draw an image of an Aquine, regardless of whether it is your own or someone else's, you will receive Shards based on the effort you put into the piece. You are only eligible to start earning Shards if you have opened a Bank account. Make sure you do that before drawing any new art as we do not count art drawn prior to you opening a bank account.
If an image looks too similar to something you've already drawn you won't earn any Shards for it.
Calculating Shards
Art:
Headshot: 1 Shard
Fullbody: 2 Shards
Shading: +1 Shard - All shading types count so long as its a bit more than just a bit of shadow.
Background: +2 Shards - Gradients, patterns, colours and low effort backgrounds do not count

Bonuses:
Gift: +1 Shard - For each additional character that does not belong to you, you receive an extra shard. Whether it is part of an art trade, commission or just a gift, you get a bonus for drawing another user's Aquine.
Extra Character: +2 Shards - Each additional character you add to the image earns an extra 2 Shards.
Aquine Mascot: +1 Shards - You receive a 1 shard bonus if you include the Aquine mascot in your image. Mascot currently in progress

Recording Shards
Shard Trackers were originally the way we had planned to have you record your Shards, items, and other enteties, however nobody actually bothered to follow this process and as such I had to create a new way for people to record their Shards.

Once you have created an Artwork or piece of literature, craft, etc, you will need to follow the process above to calculate the Shards yourself. If it does not fall under "judged manually" and you ask an admin to calculate it for you, it means that we have to stop whatever we are doing and go and calculate something that you can literally do yourself!!

So, you've followed the process correctly. You should now have a form that looks like this:

I'm using the Shard Count from the example above. Once you have that form filled out you will want to comment directly on the Shard Deviation or the post, depending on if you're participating in the facebook or deviantART community, and include the image as well.

Once you have posted your comment, an admin will check over it and make sure everything looks right, and will then record the total count in your Bank!
