About Aquines

Once you make your own Aquine, you are encouraged to have them interact with other artist’s Aquine characters, and begin to develop their personality! (While hopefully meeting new friends and having fun along the way!)

We promote the gifting of Aquine art to other people so prepare to both give and receive!

There are several things to do around here. Check out the water types and trait pages to see all the different and amazing traits you can choose to incorporate into your Aquine. If you don't have the funds to purchase one of the more exclusive traits, you can earn them by participating in prompts and events which give you special in-game currency towards earning those exclusive traits! Additionally, you can always purchase them with deviantART points and real world money.

We promote any type of artistic medium here, but Aquines are mostly visual based art. While we reward and encourage extra effort through storytelling, most prompts are drawing-based. We also love to see effort and improvement. While you do not need to use the Aquine community as a method to improve your art, we highly encourage it! But feel free to use Aquines as a ‘break’ from commissions and focus-based art as well if you are a professional artist, or planning to be one.

While Aquines are specifically aquatic-based, they can end up looking quite different from what you may expect them to be depending on the traits used. Some Aquines have additional traits added to them that give them a more unique look, an example of which would be having a terrain back or water hair. In some extremely rare circumstances, an Aquine may not even have water in it at all!

Aquarium Equines, more commonly known as Aquines, are a special species of pony-like creatures that contains an aquatic ecosystem inside of their glass-like bodies. Unlike regular ponies, Aquines do not receive cutie-marks and never have horns or wings - they are strictly earth pony.

There are many different types of Aquines - some of which are uncommon or even rare, and are harder to find and obtain. The most common types of Aquines have oceans, lakes, rivers, swamps and similar bodies of water inside of them along with the beautiful plants, objects and creatures that live inside each habitat.

When an Aquine moves, so does the water inside it, which means the contents of an Aquine's ecosystem can sometimes re-arrange itself  if a lot of movement occurs. However, the contents will never completely change and will always settle back into its original position once the Aquine has stopped moving.

What you see inside an Aquine is merely an illusion, preview or window into what we know as the world within. While it may look like the ecosystem is being messed around whenever the Aquine moves, the actual world doesn't feel these changes.

When Queen Galacia tried to create life, all her failed attempts were turned into stardust, which became the material the of the body and soul of each and every Aquine. Combined with the beautiful Waters from around the world, a new Aquine is born. The stardust takes the form of the pony's body and acts as a magical container for the world inside them. It also insulates and makes sure that the temperature always matches the climate within.

Aquines eat and drink like every other pony. However to do so they must venture into the world within where they take on the form of a normal pony and can eat, drink and rest. Bringing themself into their own world is a very magic-consuming process and thus means that they cannot stay there for very long.

Inside the world within they can hold many many creatures. Most commonly their 'Companion' will stay inside the world as they travel, and come out to play. Other Aquines may also enter the world of another Aquine without causing the host any magic-loss.

Queen Galacia was never able to create life around her. Whenever she came close, it would shatter into stardust. She realised that this was because there wasn't enough life force to keep these planets from disappearing.

In a sense, an Aquine is a beacon of hope that serves the purpose of nurtuting a world that will one day become something big and beautiful out in the galaxy. Each Aquine is a reminder that no matter how hard you try, you will always succeed , nd that giving up is never the way to go. Queen Galacia did not rest and never even though of giving up when she failed to create life so long ago.

An Aquine provides that extra life force and nurtures the small world inside its body. As time goes on and they begin to age, the world inside them becomes stronger, while the Aquine itself slowly becomes weaker.

When it is time for an Aquine to pass on, their bodies will merge with the world they contain, creating a new planet somewhere else in the galaxy that exists outside of Galacia. Meanwhile, their soul explode into stardust, filling the sky with beautiful auras and thus bringing life to new Aquines.
