As you enter the market, a friendly voice calls out to you. You look up to see a female Aquine waving at you.

"Hi there Traveler! My name is Quinn, I'm the Aquine in charge of the Marketplace here in Haven, so you'll see me around whenever you wish to upgrade or buy new traits for your Aquines!
While Haven's Marketplace is definitely the largest, there are also smaller Shops around Galacia in each other region! Each region will have shops filled with unique items and traits that can only be obtained through doing special additional requirements or tasks and by also having enough Shards to buy them! You'll also find the most standard of items in every shop, but yes, some items are region specific.

Oh goodness! Is this your first time browsing the Market? Not a problem, not a problem. Here, I'll give you a catalog that you can take with you. It's been blessed by Queen Galacia's Crystal and will always stay up to date, no matter where in Galacia you are, isn't that great?

Quinn turns around and ruffles through the shelves and pulls out a catalog and a jar of brightly coloured stardust and places them on the long table in front of you.

"Since this is your first time here, you can have your very first Jar of Stardust for no cost. If you open up your new Catalog you can also pick out a Water Trait Potion from the Common Water Type range! Once you're ready to combine them, take them to the Crystal Caves in the center of Haven to have them blessed by Queen Galacia's Crystal and you can then start designing your new Aquine!

Oh, one last thing! Make sure you choose your starting Water Potion wisely, because once you have unlocked it you will need to start earning Shards and participating in prompts and artworks before you can unlock another new Water Type. So keep this in mind when choosing!"

Marketplace Guide
Q. How does the Marketplace work?
A. The marketplace is actually just a fancy RPG setup. It works the same way as any other species in terms of buying traits. We have assigned an in game item to each trait which just makes it look pretty and isn't anything fancy. The marketplace just contains all the traits and has links to further information when it comes to using them.

Q. Can I make my own Aquine? For free?
A. Yes! You can, however, if you wish to make more Aquines you need to either purchase another Jar of Stardust (a fancy name for "MYO" slot) and a water type (unless you wish to make another Aquine using the water type you previously unlocked.

Q. What if I don't want to participate?
A. If you simply want to make lots and lots of Aquines and not participate in the species, then this species is probably not the one for you! Our species is all about the community interacting. We don't want people making Aquines and forgetting about them, and then maybe making another one later and forgetting about it too, which is why we have added an interaction rule to encourage everyone to use their characters!

If you still really want to own a lot of Aquines so that you can commission art of them instead of drawing them yourself, you can contact a member of staff and we will explain how that can work out!

Q. How do I buy a trait
A. Traits (or items) can be purchased by contacting Pinipy over on DeviantART. You can also send a note to the group if you are unsure!

When paying in shards, a member of the Aquine Staff will deduct the Shards from your Bank Account and then add the item you have purchased to your inventory until it is used.

Q. What Are Shards?
A. Shards are the Aquine currency used within the species to purchase traits and in the future will be used for other things as well. You can earn them by drawing Aquines and participating in art or literature related prompts and events. [Read About Shards]

Q. What are Additional Requirements?
A. Additional Requirements are small prompts that must be drawn or completed before you can purchase a trait that requires something else to be done! These prompts usually relate to the trait you are buying, so think of it as practice! Prompts can also be literature if you aren't able to draw it yourself. Contact a member of staff if you are still unsure or have any questions!
Q. Is there a restriction on traits?
A. Traits have 3 different rarities. Because we have decided to make all traits free to everyone (so long as they participate in the species) there is a rarity based restriction to help prevent abuse of the free trait system and to lower Shard prices.

Common Traits: There is no restriction on how many common traits you can use. Once you have purchased a common trait you have unlocked it forever and do not need to spend any points, cash, or shards the next time you wish to make an Aquine using the common trait you have unlocked.

Uncommon Traits: You can purchase up to 2 uncommon traits per month using shards and up to 5 each month using points or cash. This is to avoid people mass producing Aquines with uncommon traits. Once you have purchased an Uncommon trait, it is not unlocked permanently like common traits. You will still need to spend the required shard/point/$ amount and complete the additional requirement each time you wish to purchase the trait.

Rare Traits: You can purchase 1 rare trait every 2 months using shards and 3 rare traits every month using points or cash. As like Uncommon traits, these are not permanently unlocked and you must spend the shards / points /$ and complete the additional requirement again to make another Aquine using that trait.
